Armed thieves attack pregnant woman at her home in Jammu

Jammu, 18th December, 2022: A pregnant woman was allegedly attacked by armed thieves at her house in Shankar Nagar, Malik Bazar, Jammu last night.

As per reports, two thieves entered a house through a canal, which flows alongside the house located in the mentioned area, and attacked a pregnant woman there when she was trying to raise an alarm for help.

A relative of the victim woman told the media that the victim had gone to throw the garbage, when an armed robber who came from behind attacked her and hit her on the head.

“She had gone to throw the garbage in the drain, when a thief came from behind who was hiding in her house and there was another thief who was sitting on the wall of their house. She was shouting for help but the robber hit her on the head with the weapon and the other criminal was telling his accomplice not to hit the victim in the stomach as she is pregnant. The robbers had come wearing niqab and phiran.”, he said.

The victim’s husband told the mediaperson that he was watching television inside the house when his wife went to dump the garbage and suddenly a man came and caught her as she was shouting for help. She had a panic attack and is still in shock.

“One man was hiding inside our house and the other criminal was near the drain wall and as soon as my wife saw them she started screaming but one of the thieves who was hiding attacked and hit her on the head with his weapon Attacked. I came out and saw my wife lying unconscious on the ground and took her inside, but the criminals had escaped”, he said.

One of the accused was caught on the road by his cousins when they saw him running suspiciously, he said.

“We have handed over the thief to the police and they have told us that they will start probing our case,” he said.
