Multiplatinum singer-songwriter and producer Charlie Puth teamed up with Jungkook of global supergroup BTS for his highly anticipated single “Left & Right”, released at midnight on June 24, 2022. “Left and Right” marks the first solo collaboration Jungkook has participated in. Jungkook previously collaborated with other BTS members on the song with award-winning DJ Steve Aoki (“West It On Me”) and singer-songwriter Louv. Who”).
Produced by Puth himself, “Left & Right” was quickly described by Atlantic Records as “captivating with its lively, funk-fueled sensibilities that seamlessly fuse the signature sounds of the two hitmakers.” The single already hit number one on US iTunes and the video garnered over 10 million views in its first 12 hours of release.
The official “Left and Right” music video was directed by Drew Kirsch. The music video has a playful vibe and follows Puth and Jungkook through a therapeutic fantasy to escape from their own minds, matching the song’s “You take over every corner of my mind” lyric.
Charlie Puth and Jungkook in the past performed Charlie’s hit song “We Don’t Talk Anymore” at the 2018 MBC Plus X Genie Music Awards in South Korea. According to a recent interview with Z100 New York Radio StationCharlie says that he and Jungkook kept in touch after that collaboration and sent each other music over the years.
“Left & Right” serves as the third single from Puth’s upcoming third studio album, Charlie, due out later this year. After months of fan anticipation, they released their first single from the album, “Light Switch”, in January 2022. That single hit #1 on the Apple iTunes pop chart and has over 401 million streams and over 83 million views globally. on Youtube. Charlie’s second single, “That’s Hilarious”, has garnered over 99 million streams on Spotify.
Puth has not officially announced a release date for his upcoming album.
