Fire in the record room of Jal Shakti Department

A fire broke out in the record room of the office of the Chief Engineer of Jal Shakti Department on BC Road in the city on Tuesday morning under suspicious circumstances. Due to this incident of arson, the old record lying in the record room was burnt to ashes.

The old records were kept in five rooms on the ground floor of the Chief Engineer’s office, out of which three rooms have completely burnt down, the old files have been pulled out somehow from the remaining two rooms. According to the daily wage workers of the department, they also had old records in this record room, on the basis of which they were sitting in the hope of being permanent, but all these records have also been burnt in the arson.

There are about 22 thousand such deliverers in the Jal Shakti Department who have given their services for the last twenty years. This savior has been grappling with the demand for permanent employment for almost a decade, and the BJP-PDP government in the past had also taken steps towards making them permanent. Old records were sought from him to make these deliveries permanent. Instructions were given to record government records from attendance to payment in the files of these deliverers, but now these deliverers say that from where will they get their records by burning the records of the record room.

Tarsem Lal, who runs a tea shop in the Chief Engineer’s office, first reported the arson. According to Tarsem Lal, when he started going to the toilet at around five in the morning, he saw that flames were coming out from inside the rooms. According to Tarsem Lal, the fire started due to the breaking of electrical wires passing over the rooms. As soon as the information was received, the fire brigade team reached the spot and the fire was brought under control. However, the files in the record room that were not burnt in the fire are now completely drenched in water and in total all the records lying in the record room have been burnt to ashes.
