The stampede took place near gate number three of the building at around 2:15 am on January 1.

“Unfortunate incident, a scuffle broke out between two groups of pilgrims leading to a stampede. In this unfortunate incident, a total of 12 pilgrims lost their lives and 16 others were injured,” the board had said in the statement.
