In order to promote door to door digital banking and financial services in remote areas of the Union Territory, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched the mission ‘One Gram Panchayat-One Digi-Pay Sakhi’ in the UT at Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute here today. launched. Initially, DIGI-Pay facility will be provided in 2000 remote villages of the Union Territory and in the first phase, 80 women from Self Help Groups of Jammu and Kashmir Division have been selected as DIGI-Pay Sakhis.

On the occasion, Lt Governor distributed 80 Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEP) among DIGI-Pay Sakhis under JKRLM. He also inaugurated a one week training program for Krishi Sakhis and Pashu Sakhis on sustainable agriculture and livestock management.

Describing the social and economic independence of Nari Shakti as the cornerstone of any nation’s progress, the Lieutenant Governor said that the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has launched a mass movement for the socio-economic upliftment of women throughout the Union Territory.

“These three new initiatives of Digi-Pay, Krishi, and Pashu Sakhi, among many other programs of women empowerment like Hausla, Tejaswini, Udemy, Rise Together, in empowering women and making them key partners in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Will intensify the efforts of the government. Vikas Yatra”, he said.

The Lt Governor underlined that DIGI-Pay Sakhi has pioneered financial inclusion within the Self Help Group (SHG) ecosystem of the UT, making the far-flung areas much needed financial access points with greater transparency.

The Lt Governor said that apart from depositing money, the rural population can also avail additional banking and financial services such as Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana, registration of Kisan Credit Card etc.

The Lt Governor underlined that it was due to the visionary efforts of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji that the vast marginalized section of the population of our country was connected to the formal financial system through JAM- Jan Dhan, Aadhar and K Trinity . mobile.

We are following the ideals of Hon’ble Prime Minister and creating new avenues to take banking services to the doorsteps of the people. The Lt Governor said that continuous efforts to achieve financial inclusion have empowered the underprivileged sections by providing financial assistance, benefits of PM-Kisan, increase in wages under MGNREGA.

Highlighting the contribution of women in the rural informal sector, the Lt Governor said that initiatives like Krishi Sakhi and Pashu Sakhi would go a long way in empowering our women in agriculture and allied sector.

Stating that the development of a family, society, region, country, world and humanity is incomplete without women empowerment, the Lt Governor said that the Union Territory Administration is taking several important steps to transform the lives of the women of Jammu and Kashmir. , especially by involving people living in rural areas in beneficial livelihood interventions.

The Lieutenant Governor also announced that the first of its kind, Mahila Industrial Estate would come up in Udhampur Industrial Estate, which would further strengthen the women entrepreneur ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.

With the increase in female literacy rate; Providing access to quality education; He said that by encouraging more and more women to become entrepreneurs and providing financial assistance for the upliftment of women, J&K is setting an example in the matter of women empowerment.

The Lt Governor also made a special mention to the women of the Union Territory who are inspiring others and appreciated their contribution in building a developed and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion, the Lt Governor directed Rural Livelihood Mission, J&K to train DIGI-PE Sakhis in 360° Financial Services Training courses conducted by BSE in J&K.

He urged Digipay Sakhis to spread awareness among rural women to take maximum benefit of various Central and UT schemes. He said that Digi-Pay Sakhis would play an important role in giving wings to the dreams of rural women to become independent and progressive women.

Earlier, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asghar, Mission Director, JKRLM made a detailed presentation on the goals and plan to empower Krishi Sakhis, Pashu Sakhis and DIGI-PE Sakhis. He said that under the Umeed scheme, rural women are being empowered and many other women are also becoming entrepreneurs by showing the way.
