National Conference (NC) President and MP Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday chaired a virtual meeting of the party’s Provincial Committee members, Jammu.

According to a statement issued, the meeting in which a wide range of issues were discussed lasted for eight hours. Party vice-president Omar Abdullah also participated in the deliberations.

Addressing the office bearers of the National Conference of Jammu province through virtual mode, Farooq Abdullah said, “We will protect the interests of the people at every cost at every platform.” Party in the Supreme Court of the country.

Dr. Abdullah called upon the cadre to further strengthen their rank and file to unitely face the challenges faced by J&K and uphold the cherished philosophy of communal and regional unity. Stating that the National Conference was not against the delimitation process in Jammu and Kashmir, party president Dr Farooq Abdullah today said the method adopted was not in accordance with the procedure.

The NC President spoke at length on various issues raised by the party functionaries and shared concerns over the smooth functioning of road connectivity, especially the Mughal Road. He said that this link is very important between the two regions, as the national highway between Jammu and Srinagar is under high pressure and cannot withstand the pressure of such massive vehicular movement. He said that the most important is the railway connectivity between Jammu-Poonch and Jammu-Kishtwar, which has already been taken up by the National Conference in Parliament.

“We will also take up this issue with the Prime Minister”, Dr Abdullah said, adding that railway connectivity is the most reliable and reliable mode of surface transport, especially in Jammu and Kashmir, which faces road blockages for the better part. year due to the uncertainty of the weather.

The NC President expressed concern over the unfortunate situation arising out of the pandemic, which caused devastation to mankind, and sought the active support of the people in making the ongoing vaccination campaign a success. This is the only way to defeat the virus and the party cadre should motivate the people for mass vaccination.

Addressing the day-long virtual meeting, NC Vice President Mr. Omar Abdullah asked the party functionaries to review the party’s membership distribution process in Jammu province.

Expressing concern over the uncertainty prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir, he urged the cadre to stand firm in their resolve to fight for the right cause. He said that this has been a proud legacy of the National Conference.

Omar Abdullah stressed the critical need to further strengthen the party at the grassroots level by launching door-to-door campaigns and preparing the people to face the challenges in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the cadre mobilization during the elections to the District Development Councils exposed the fact that the National Conference was a force.

He joined the cadre to pay tribute to the colleagues who died due to COVID in the last one year. Referring to more deaths in the Jammu region, he expressed concern over the handling of the virus, asking where are the BJP leaders, who could not rise to the occasion to seek some relief for the afflicted.

He said that the National Conference is, is and will remain at the forefront of providing justice to the people of all regions and sub-regions. “Public interest is sacred to us”, he said and urged the cadre to clarify the problems of the people seeking their redress.

Earlier, a two-minute silence was observed in the memory of senior leaders of the National Conference and all the victims of the pandemic.

Provincial President Devendra Singh Rana, who conducted the proceedings of the virtual day-long conference, read out the tributes of Thakur Rachpal Singh, Kashmera Singh, Abdul Wahid Shan, Gurdeep Singh Sasan, Rohit Kearny and Mohammad Alam, saying that they have contributed a lot. In strengthening the party and serving the people in various capacities.

National Conference general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, senior leaders Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, Surjit Singh Salathia, Ratan Lal Gupta, Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy, Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Shah Bukhari, Javed Rana, Ejaz Jan were present in the meeting.

Sagar called for expediting the membership drive, hoping that it would gain more momentum in the Corona situation.

During the conference, former ministers, legislators, various provincial wings of the National Conference and district heads participated in the deliberations.
