Speeding truck mows down SPO at Bahu Fort, Jammu

Nov. 16 in Jammu (PTI) Early on Wednesday, a speeding truck ran over a 27-year-old Special Police Officer (SPO) near the Narwal bypass, leaving him dead, according to the police.

According to Station House Officer (SHO) Sikander Singh Chouhan of Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station, the truck driver also sustained injuries as a result of his vehicle losing control and colliding with another parked truck.

SPO Rajat Choudhary, a resident of Bishnah, was critically injured when he was struck by a speeding truck with a Tamil Nadu registration number while he was checking vehicles with a police party near a forest check point on the bypass.

His coworkers hurried him to the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital, where he passed away from his wounds, according to the officer.

According to Chouhan, the truck driver is receiving treatment at a hospital while in custody, and further investigation is ongoing after a case was filed under the appropriate legal provisions.

After the necessary legal procedures were completed, the deceased’s body was given to his family for final rites, he added.
