An alarm has been issued in the city after an alleged drone was spotted by Air Traffic Control (ATC) radars Sunday near Jammu airport in Jammu & Kashmir. Following the reported drone discovery, the security forces have been placed on high alert.
The drone movement was spotted by ATC radars at a distance of two kilometres, according to the early information. After the drone was discovered, a warning was then issued.
The nearby Indian Air Force installation and the Jammu Airport have both received alerts. It is important to note that on June 26, 2016, two low-intensity IEDs were dropped by a drone at the IAF base in Jammu, killing two IAF personnel.
Pakistani drones are dropping arms, ammunition and drugs in border areas for terrorist activities.
In recent days, BSF and J&K Police shot down some Pakistani drones and recovered AK rifles, Chinese pistols and grenades and other ammunition.
